Safari

Self-drive safari Kruger Park:

krugerThere is a variety of ways to have a safari at the Kruger Park. We think the best way to have a

safari is to drive with your own car. Most of the roads are tarred and well accessible to for a

standard car. Also most of the gravel roads are accessible for a standard car.

You decide how fast or how slow you would like to have your safari and if you would like to stay

longer to take pictures there is no rush! Please always stay in your car!  There are many

places/camps where you are allowed to go out of your car. Most of these places do have sanitary

facilities.

In the neighbourhood of our house we have two entrances of Kruger National Park. First there is Crocodile Bridge

Gate in the east. This gate is situated approx. 15 min. drive from the house. The second gate is Malelane gate.

This gate is situated in the west and it will take approx. a 30 min. drive.

Direction to Crodocile Bridge Gate:

Crocodile gateLeave Marloth Park though the gate at the eastside (this should be the gate you

have used when you entered Marloth Park) and take the first road to the left.

Please follow this road to the end and at the end turn left. Follow this road till

the entrance. Close to the entrance you will cross a concrete bridge over the

Crocodile River.

At the entrance you park your car at the designated places to buy your tickets.

You will have to fill in a form with the names of the persons who will enter the

park and the number of your car license plate. The fee of a ticket for Kruger

National Park is approx. euro 18,00 a person/a day. For a small fee you can also

buy here a visitor’s guide, please do so as this guide gives you a lot of interesting

information about the animals and also a map of all the roads of Kruger.

Direction to Malelane Gate:

Malelane gateLeave Marloth Park through the gate at the east side. (this should be the gate

you have used when you entered Marloth Park). Please follow this road till the

end, turn right at the N-4 direction Malelane. Follow the N-4 for approx. 30 km.

Signs of Malelane gate will appear, please follow the signs.

At the N-4 turn left, after this turn please turn left at the first road. This road will

let you cross the N-4 underneath, at the end of this road turn right. Follow this

road until you arrive at the entrance of the Park. Just before the entrance you

will drive over a bridge (crossing Crocodile River). It is always nice to have a

short stop for some nice pictures. At the entrance please follow the directions

as described at Crocodile Bridge Gate.

Please note:

krugerPlease be sure you have enough fuel in the tank! It is possible to refuel at the

large camps within Kruger National Park. Please be sure you have enough air

in the tires and that the tires have the right tire pressure, this could prevent a

puncture. Please take enough water or other drinks with you, especially on a

hot day. You are able to buy drinks and food at the larger camps.

Wild animals always have priority! Please be sure that you do not block the

walking path of a wild animal with your car, especially with elephants.

Please stay in a respectable distance away from the animals (especially

elephants with a young).

Enjoy your safari!!!! We are sure you will come back!
